I would agree with Rounder, 1.5" probably would probably look the best! I too never even thought about the apes hitting the tank! I would think as long as you went with bars that are the same width as the trees you should be good.

Yup to me it looks like crap when the bars are 3 inches wider then your trees on both sides. Fup if you hit me up later ill shoot you some links to different styles.
