Default security or no security

posted another thread here about the new fat bob i'm getting. here's another question. the dealer i'm dealing with has one with no security system on it. it's a $350 charge around here for it. it's the one that comes with the little key pad thing. is it worth it? it's not an alarm just a kill switch type thing from what I understand. my bike will be garage kept protected by smith & wesson. is this security system worth the money?

Depends on your situation I guess. I've never had one, keep it garaged, don't party at questionable establishments at 3AM, etc.

REAL Security is measured in millimeters, like 9mm. Save you money for something useful, like gasoline or other travel costs and get out on the bike and RIDE.

If your insurance carrier will give you a discount for having an active security system then in the long run it may be worth it. But if not, or if the discount added up over the years you plan to have the bike is less than the cost of the system, then no!

I had the security system that came with mine. . .removed. Just didn't like the keyless ignition aspect, worrying about the battery in the fob, etc. Never had anything like that on any bike I'd had before, didn't want it, it's gone.

In your shoes, I'd get the bike without the system.

I have it for insurance reasons.

Just keep the card for how to disarm it when the batt dies in the fob...
