I am thinking about getting a 240 rear wheel fit for my 04 Low Rider, my concerns are will I be able to retain the sissybar, will I still be able to ride 2 up? Anyone have any info on this?
I checked out some 240 kits and they all average around $3000 not including wheels! Add the price of some custom wheels $2000, $500 for matching rotors and about $500 for a pulley. You looking at $6000 if your gonna do it yourself! As for the sissy bar, you'll probably have to have a custom one made because of how wide the fender will be. As for riding 2up on a bike with a 240, I rode a chopper with a 260 and wouldn't want to try and ride with a passanger!
240 is a decet size... i would never go bigger, even with the 240 you will notice a HUGE diff in handling, will be more like a tank... but look cool! never the less it completely changes the look of the bike... way i look at it is if you are gettin bored with your scoot and it is paid off 3g's for the kit is alot better than 17g's for a new scoot...
Actually I have a 240 on the back of mine and IHO it handles better than when it had the smaller tire. You can modify your sissy bar thats pretty easy. and I ride 2 up often . The only down side I have found with the 240 kit is getting replacement trans parts. There made by a company named Zodiac in Germany. They make good stuff. But if you ever break anything like I have , No 1 in the states will sell you the parts seperately. I just had to buy a input shaft from 1 of there distributors in England! it took about a month between getting the price and availabilty until it showed up. I'm not sure why but the links are there for pic's of my bike . But there not loading on the post? anyone know why?
I had thoughts of putting a 240 kit on my 08 Superglide. I managed to find a swingarm thirteen inches wide. I bought it and to my surprise it came with an offset kit, fender, and weld on fender struts. It seems to be a complete kit, however the drawback is that it is for the 5-speed pre-06 Dyna. Measuring the width at the tranny mount it appears it would fit the newer tranny. The problem I seem to have encountered is that no one sells a transmission offset kit by its self. I have held onto this for awhile and considered my options.
For those 5-speed guys who would be intrested I will sell this kit. I will ship it to you for 1000.00.
oops..........forgive my measurementing skills. The swingarm is fourteen inches wide. I have attached some pics........The 240 swingarm is on the right next to a 06 swingarm.
