Default Street Bob seat choices

Hello all,

I,m new to the forum and Harley's. Just ordered a Street Bob and it will be here in a couple months. My question is, what seat shoudl i get if i want the double seat. Harlly has three models on their web site im interested in: the sidekick, stripper, and badlander. the badlander is like a 150 bucks cheaper, but i cant tell much difference in any of them just by looking on the web page. Anyone have any experience with the seats listed. Can't really afford a corbin or anything like that now though.

Thanks,
Rob

Hey man..I've bought 2 separate seats for my 06 wide glide. I bought the pillow look seat for two up riding...(for my wife..along with a medium low sissy bar upright). For myself, I bought the sidekick custom seat...I love it! It is really comfortable and places me back an inch or two further from the pegs as compared with the pillow look seat...this works great for me...gives me a little more room to stretch. I believe the stripper and badlander seats are a little bit more low profile...but you may loose a little in the comfort dept. The sidekick is the best of both worlds.
If you want really comfortable, you can look at the touring or sundowner seats...but in my opinion, they look a little out of place on a dyna. Just my opinon. Some are willing to sacrifice looks for comfort. I wanted both...and I have both.

welcome ... are you getting the seat for your passenger or for looks?
badlander stipper and sidekick only have about 5-6 inches width for passenger
...the rally runner seat is 8 inches
and the pillion for the bob is 12 inches wide
at first I bought the pillion but returned and got the rally seat
BTW
read as much as possible on these forms ...ask questions
then get an idea what you want on your bike .
make a list, save yer money ,yer bike will be your personal canvas

Hi,

I want to be able to take passengers on short trips, maybe like 50 miles or so, nothing cross country or anything like that.

I want the seat to look good too. I just wouldn’t think a big touring seat would look good on a Bob. I was looking at the seats like on the low rider Dynas and like them, but didn’t like the rib styling that run across where you sit. I like the plain, black, and smooth look. Butt the overall shape and height was doable, but I don’t know if harley sells a seat like those in stock configuration without the ribbing.

It wont be here for a couple months, so I have plenty of time to shop around. Any other advices on a good seat that is lean, low, and reasonably compfortable for a passenger for around the 300-400 dollar range.

Thanks for the responses though,
Rob

Has anyone tried the Phantom Pad? I was wondering not so much about comfort, but how good the suction cups work. I can take the girlfriend yellin at me because she's not comfortable, but if I lost her off the back I don't think that I would be able to live that one down! lol

I saw one of those pillion add-on pads on a different bike (not the Street Bob) at the dealers and it was not very secure. It wobbled back and forth; I would have hated to ride on it. Yea, same here, if I lost her off the back, it would be damn hard to get her to go for round two, lol.

hi there,

received my Mustang Seat "DayTripper" for my Bob some weeks ago, it's perfect. Comfort is great, even for the passenger, paid $ 289.--for.
Installation is a walk in the park.

Hi, I agree with all above. I think it depends what you wanna do most of the time. I have a stripper which I think is the best looking seat, it gives a low, lean, and bad@ss profile, but has the unconviency to be a bit hard for long runs. It is excellent for short city bike rides.

The stock SuperGlide Custom seat is as you describe. Similar to the LowRider, but without the ribs. I have one on my Bob (sorry, no pics). Go to the H-D website and look at the '06 SuperGlide Custom to get a general idea.

Sorry about the size of the pic, but here is another option. It's the HD Reach seat.

I bought this for a couple reasons.

One was that I'm 5'7", but found myself reaching for the bars...I didn't like them pulled back, so the Reach seat scooted me up a little. Also, if I go to forward controls, the seat will come in handy.

Another was that it has enough of a width (8 to 9"?) in the passenger are that it wouldn't be too uncomfortable for a passenger.

Last, it still has a low profile look to it that really doesn't look too bad in person. It's pretty dished out in the rider area and even though I didn't have a problem touching the ground, it is a little slimmer between the legs which allows better footing.
