Default How to secure River Road throw overs?

So I'm looking at the River Road compact slant bags because I like the idea of a small bag that fits without having to remove the rear turns or anything.

I went and looked at a set of the bags at a local bike shop and couldn't figure out how they secure to the bike. There weren't like any ties or anything on the backside of the back to secure them to any part of the bike. I can't imagine they just sit there.

Also, if I used one of those support brackets, would it mount to the end of the rear shock and the middle bolt on the strut? So then the bag would sick out and lay OVER the shocks?

Can anyone who might have these types of bags help out and let me know how one would go about securing them to the bike.

Thanks.

(Pics would be fantastic as well!)

I think I might have the same bags. I didn't use any brackets at all. The bags actually are blocked from the spokes by the brake caliper and the belt gaurd. I haven't had any problems. I then used some rawhide show laces and loosely tied the bags to the shocks just tight enought so the they don't fly up. Also, I bought a longer seat screw and drilled a hole in the cross strap of the bags to secure them to the fender.

Thanks for the tips, how did you tie them to the shocks? I was trying to say how there weren't any ties on the bag or anything, so I'm guessing if I wanted to tie them to any part of the bike frame or whatever, I'd have to put a hole in the bag or something and run some zip tie or leather string through it...

My bags actually have some plastic rings on them to tie off to. I tied leather string loosely right around the springs on the shocks. I'm having some new bags made to go over my battery / electrical box that do not have anything to tie off to. I'm planning on punching some holes in the bags.

don't forget to protect your fender. How many guys selling tins note that the past owner %$^&(ed the rear fender paint with bags. Mine fit under the 2 up seat on a sportster. GL

Yup, the River Road compact slant is designed to fit basically the same way. The difference is the Fox Creek is real leather and the River Road is synthetic.

both are great bags, I'm just trying to figure out how to tie them down. Sounds like using some leather string or zip ties through holes in the bags...

Thx

Oh yeah, I have a microfiber towel cut to size under the leather to protect the fender.
