Just went and test rode a crossbones, noticably slower than my street bob. i know the soft tail engine has the extra counter balancers and that kills some power but i figured it was such a small amount it wouldnt be noticeable,,, WRONG!! THAT THING IS SLOW!! im glad i rode it , now i like my bob even more, the bob has a better ride also, xbones bounces to much. this weekend im gonna go back and ride a rocker just to confirm. im liking this test ride promo at the dealers, i told em i wasnt buying , they just said o.k. whatcha wanna ride? any body else test riding?
Let's not forget the softies are heavier. The Xbones is 70 lbs heavier than a fatbob .Test rides here in canada,at least her in montreal, last 1 day adn you have every guy with a mc license lined up at 6 am to get a crack at em. i gave up and went out ridin my fatbob instead! time well spent I say!
Actually if you look on HD's site the Crossbones is only about 34 pounds heavier than a Fat Bob. It is 70 pounds heavier than the Street Bob though. Just saying...
oops my bad I must have compared the FB dry weight to the Xboners running order.,,-and last year I had a SB on loan while warrenty issues were being addressed , and foud it faster than my FB!

Soft tail as an extra counter balancer, they still both have the same power. The extra weight makes the soft tail run smoother with less vibrations. The acceleration is less, but then bike will then to run with less variation of speed with little hills while running down highway. I like how smooth they run compare to my 2005 FXDX. Nothing slap me back more then my Dyna.
i did notice at one point i was in 6th gear going 60 and the engine was happy. my s.b. wouldve been wanting 5th going 60 the xbones was comfortable, it looks really cool, but im much happier with my street bob. to me its a far better bike. and about 3 or 4 grand cheaper.
I heard someone say that when riding a crossbones it felt like siting on a booster seat.
A friend of mine has a crossbones, he swears by it. However, the one time we switched up for a ride, I definitly got that feeling. When I ride my SB i feel like im one with the bike, with the crossbones i feel like im on the bike.
