Default DWG Front End Drop

Got a 2003 FXDWG that I already have lowered by 1" in the back. I'm getting ready to change the front using a Progressive 10-1561 kit. Question - Should I drop the front 1" or 2"? Is it preference or is there a practical line of thought? Steering changes, bottoming out, etc?

I think the rule of thumb is if you drop the rear one inch, drop the front one inch.

Default Drops

The more you lower it the more things will drag in the corners on the twisties.

You might have to get a shorter jiffy stand if you haven't already. Might try pushing the forks up an inch through the trees and test ride it.

I've only had the chance to put on about 50-60 miles on my bike since I lowered it front and rear. I went with the Burly Slammer kit. Here is the link to the thread where I posted some pics https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...ed-fatbob.html
I think the bike handles better and is a little stiffer. Although not as stiff as I thought it would be. I do have a stand issue I need to fix. The bike stands nearly vertical when parked on level ground.

Can't do that to the wide glides. At least not on mine anyhow. There is a lip that prevents them from going up.

I installed this kit 10-2003 last week on my 03 WG. It lowered the front almost 1/2" without cutting the spacers. I put 12" 412's on the back and I think I am going to drop the front down another 1/2" or so to even it out again.

In total, I will have the back 1/2" lower and the front 1"-1 1/4"

Throw a ratchet strap on the axle and the bottom triple tree and crank it down till it looks good. Then measure.

Got the shorter j/s to put on it (from the H/D low profile kit for a Dyna, jiffy part #49729-95). The stock j/s on it now along with the 1" dropped rear has it all but vertical.
