Bought my 08 Bob in December and had it delivered to my garage with 7 miles on it. Spent three months taking it apart, shaving fenders, building handlebars, powdercoating, scrubbing paint and LocTite off my fingers, reading the service manual, reading the service manual again, checking the Dyna Forum (thank you all for the wealth of information, you all rock!) and of course, waiting on the UPS guy - he's like a real life Santa Claus. Got my tins back from the painter last Sunday morning and by 3 in the afternoon it had 150 miles on it.
Highlight of the ride came at the last of 6 bar stops. As we watched a "slightly" drunk couple ogling the line-up of twenty-or-so bikes they stopped at mine and I felt pretty proud. Then the chick walked into the bar and said, "Who's ridin the flat black one?" I could barely contain my pride but I played it cool and didn't say a word. One of my buddies pointed to me and said, "It's his." In front of everyone she says, "We were wondering what color it's gonna be when it's finished." BAM! Like a gut punch. I was wounded. Then she delivered the kill-shot, "Is that a Sportster?" They're never gonna let me live that one down. I'll let them have their fun...whenever they catch up.
Sweet ride man. The black with the chrome accent (mufflers) looks real good. As for the Sportster lady, I've dealt with that too...from guys riding harleys. Let me rephrase that. Guys riding softails and dressers.
Wonder if I could figure a way with 6 characters to say "not a sporty." lol
How's "NOSPTY"?

"NOT XL" or "IMDYNA" or "IMAFXD" or just "NOTTA" and when they ask, "Notta what?" say, "Notta Sportster."
