The proper way: Deassemble all fork parts on the bike, messy oil and shait - couple of hours, leave the legs to a painter/powdercoater. After 1-3 days you get the parts back and pay $$$. Ressemble oil and shait! Done....
OR like I did...
Remove wheel and brake caliper: 5 minutes
Mask the entire bike: 10 minutes
Sand the legs: 30 minutes
Paint, 5 layers Epoxy within an hour or so, dry over night. DONE
Cost 20$
one other thing man if oyu are not going to run a front fender you can shave off those mounting tabs... i did it on my cafe (it was set up for duel front brakes and i did not have that so i wanted th other brake tabs off...
used saws all to cut them off
Very nice, thats going to look great on your scoot.
I did the epoxy first and it held up pretty well and looked great. After a couple chips from highway riding I decided to tear down the fork and have them powdercoated when I did my trees.
Yea my fork lowers are starting to look like the toilet after Oprah's been out all night feasting on fast food.
I like the silver that is on it stock but will probably paint them black sometime. I would like to see a pic of someeone that did theirs with the wrinkle black truck bed lining paint that was mentioned before. I bet that stuff is tough as hell but I just wonder how it would look.
