I'm thinking of putting some slip ons on my Wide Glide ('08). I'm not planning on any other upgrades (for now, will add an air cleaner and power commander later in the year). Which have the better sound/quality/power? What I like about the Rush ones is that you can change out the baffles, but the Krome Werks are available in a tapered config that looks stock. I'm pretty sure I can add the Rush without changing the fuel map, but can I add the Khrome Werks will I have to remap?
I've had both sets.
Sound: I've had the 1.75 baffles and I think the sound quality is better than the Khrome Werks. I've had the slash cut and tapered Khrome Werks. Did not care for the sound of the slash cuts (Khrome Werks) at all. The Khrome Werks are alittle louder when giving it throttle, but at idle are about the same loudness. The Khrome Werks have a slightly deeper tone.
Quality: Same, both great.
Performance: Khrome Werks hands down.
I have gone back to the Khrome Werks. Now I have the tapered, which I like much better than the slash cut and better than the Rush. After numerous exhausts, including full systems, I am sticking with these, at least for now.
As far as re-map, I am not sure. Khrome Werks web-site says it needs a re-map, but I hear alot of talk lately about the closed loop being able to compensate, especially if you don't change the air cleaner.
