Default Exhaust Replacement Advice

I'm sure it's been covered, I looked thru a couple pages for answers. Can I put on the SE 1 or 2 mufflers on my 06 Super Glide without the Air Cleaner and download/re-mapping?? The dealers swear up and down that I cannot. My local one wont even sell me the mufflers. I just dont want to spend $600 when the mufflers are $230 and all I want is a little louder sound. Any advice/experience?? Thanks.

Well,.. I have been told "NO" by the dealer that I would have to also do the download with the exhaust and I have also heard that I would not have to do the download if I just added a pair of slipons. So,.... I too would like to know that as well.

John

It seems that from what I have seen on this forum is that there are several guys who have just added slipons and the bike will be fine. Thats pretty much what I plan on doing for the first 1000 miles anyway.

I have the street leagal slip ons (which are not much louder than stock) and no down load. I haven't had any problems. And I have had them for 500 miles. As far as I know the mufflers change the sound of the bike and the a/c and the download add HP. But I'm new to this s***.

You will be OK phor awhile with just the slipons. Eventually you will want to get hte AC, and some phorm of phuel enrichment installed.

I'm sure down the road I'll be looking for some more power. Right now, I've got <200 miles on the bike, I just want something that you can hear on the highway.

I just got the SEII slip ons last week, no download or aircleaner. Its been running great not a single problem. Sounds cool also....

You don't need to wait phor any special milestone to do it.

My personal preference is to get it done ASAP, that way the bike will break in with the new components and they'll all make nice together.
