100th anniverary tank

Is it a mortal sin to strip down and paint my 100th anniversary tank? I know I could just pick up a used tank and save this one but is it really worth it?
Also.. anybody got a decent tank layin around that'll work on a 2003 SuperGlide?

I'd try to find a plain ol' tank to paint and shelve the original. I think it's taboo to modify/alter special things. Example: I've got an old British car. It's nothing special, but there are models of it that are. I cringe when someone carves up a special to make a race car, instead of doing it to a regular one. Leave the specials alone for the restorers and concours guys.

I would find a different tank. Save you a ton of money in the future if you decided to take it back to original or make you a ton of money selling it to someone that needs one.

i'm not the biggest fan of the 100th Anniversary tanks, but I certainly wouldn't strip and refinish one either....it'll be worth a lot of money later if it isn't already. Probably just keep an eye out on eBay until you find something quality for cheap.

I agree. I have a Spirit of America Nova that I trashed making it my own and saw one on ebay for 24,000 last year. Yea..........im an idot.

I had a 2003 Heritage Classic, gunmetal paint and the guy who bought it was thinking of painting it. He had the same concern as you do. I told him unless your going to park the thing and not ride it, it wouldn't be worth any more than a non anniversary year bike. it had 32K on it when I sold it too him. strip it, paint it, ride it and have a good time. Now if it were the silver n black paint job I might feel different.
