I have FI wide glide with 1 3/4 straight exhaust and was wanting to change to 2" straigh back slash cut pipes , harley dealer said pipes I using now is bad for engine ,should have baffles and if I switch to the 2" straight pipe I have to have baffle or good chance of burning valves is this true and can I just put baffles in the 2" pipes and be ok
If you have straight pipes i imagine you like it very loud-so baffles will make it quieter and you don't want that I think. You just need some type of fuel management device like PCV, pcIII, sert,tts master tune, vance &hines fuel pak.... There are more...
It will run like crap with open 2" pipes. Save your money on that BCT crap and just get you a set of 12 buck shorty baffles. If you need to do any "tuning", make a pair of lollipop baffles and put them in either before or a after the shorty baffles.
i run 1 3/4 inch drags on my 06 superglide. mine felt like a dog with no pipe mods
i had to drill holes in the bottom of the pipes and stick screws up in them. after that it made a big diff. in torq. I love the sound and looks be sure to get a tuner though.
