has anybody had this happen , 06 streetbob ,no mods, just riding along and bike just dies out for a second or two, speedo goes to zero then it comes back to life, it kinda hiccups like water in fuel but when I seen the speedo go to zero and I was doing 45 mph im thinking electric failure , just like hitting the kill switch .any ideas or known TSB's , will be calling the H.D. shop on monday to come and get her, I will have the tranny recall done at that time also. I heard the shop is backlogged 3 to 4 weeks. this really bites !!!
the tranny recall is for the false neutral, my tranny seems fine but figured while I get this other problem resolved , get this taken care of also. still need to find out why my bike just hiccups and stutters. yes I did check my battery cables and they were tight. will let you know what I find out. im still thinking I might have picked up some bad fuel (water ?) I hate intermittent problems, better off if the darn thing just died.
Bad fuel could be the problem. I had this happen to my sporty. Next fuel stop, go to a different station and get the premo gas and see if the problem continues. Shell and Chevron are my choices.
mine did the same thing untill i put the 25 degree fuel injectors in cost me about 180 bucks unless you can get the dealer to do it in the 4 mile ride they take
well they will be picking up the bike on monday morning, just for kicks I started her up again this evening.....started right up, idled, then I rode 300 ft down the street, lights dimmed , she died and sputtered but not completly, turned around and rolled into driveway and then she shut off, now im certain its electrical, whether its a shorted battery, bad relay or who knows , it will be reproduced for them to see. rode bike over to leesburg bike fest on sunday last week and she ran out great, glad that this happened around home. I will fill you in on the details as they come....thanks for all the replys
hi big d
i experienced exactly the same problem last week on my 06 bob (no mods), it happned on 4 occasions within 10mins of each other.
the first time i was nearly at a stop in traffic (2-3mph) when the bike lurched forward 3-4 feet! then twice on deceleration the engine lost power for a split second and finally i was overtaking a few cars got to 60 mph the speedo dropped to 20 the engine died then shot back up to 70mph! i had just filled up with petrol prior to this happening and thought it could be contaminated fuel, so i found a quiet stretch of road and tried to re-create the fault by various styles of riding but the bike ran perfectly (still on the same tank of fuel). the next day i rode 250miles with 70 other harley riders with no problems.
my problem now is that the bike is booked into the dealer in 2 weeks time to have se11s, k&n and either v+h fuelpak or pc111 fitted, but if i have further problems with the bike after the mods are carried out will my warranty be void?
Hey Big D,,what tranny recall are you talking about??
There is a transmission recall for all 2006 Dynas made before 12/05/2005. If you are unsure about your bike call the MoCo customer service line and give them your vin number and they will tell you if the bike needs the fix.
