Depending on how well HD's EFI programing works then what silver says is right. Unless you go to WOT air restriction, either by the air filter or mufflers, is not a limit to the amount of fuel and air going into the engine. If the EFI is working properly then the air fuel ratio will be metered according to the demand. But, according to HD's website (look at the dyno chart attached to the information about the screaming eagle air filter) there is a significant increase in both HP and TQ by using the S/E AC IF you get the harley reprogram. I suspect the reprogram would work just as well in producing this extra power without changing the air filter. Probably all the reprogram does is increase the amount of fuel over the rev range and increase the max rpm. Apparently, an EFI engine runs very lean to meet EPA standards and this alone would limit the amount of power that can be made. I have been debating whether to just do the harley reprogram or buy the PC-V, since all I plan to do is put half packed screaming eagle slip ons and change the air filter. Again I agree with silver about wasting money on trying to make the HD go faster. HD's aren't sportbikes and will never be fast enough or handle well enough to justify spending to much money on performance parts. If I wanted a sportsbike I would have purchased a Kawasaki 14 for less then I paid for my dyna and would only have been able to go 185 mph. I plan to spend my money on apparence and comfort. Final line, put on the slip ons your EFI will adjust. BTW took my 2008 sportster on a trip last fall that went from 1,000 feet (midwest) to over 9,000 feet and the EFI worked great. Didn't even seem like it lost that much power at over 9,000. Try to do that with a carb.!
