in 1971 the superglide was born crossing a dresser and sportster to come out with one cool bike
a factory custom... from that line bikes like the FAT BOB (remember that bike?)LOW RIDER OR STURGIS
and the DISC GLIDE? in 1982 they changed the frame aka the superglide 2 (fxr)
in 86 the frame was changed again for a rubber mount then in 1991 the DYNA appeared
again the frame had been improved then in 95 fxr was now dyna so now the superglide is carried thru the dyna line today
so it really dont matter what the name is does it ... theyre all cool bikes
Amazing how simple a concept is was. Take the 'King of the Highway" FLH and put a sporty rear fender and narrowglide front end on it. The instant "Custom" that people were doing to Hydraglides, Duo-glides and electra-glides for god know how long.
I wish HD would get it together and do a vintage '65-'84 style Electra-glide off of the FXD chassis. FLDxx bikes would be real cool....
