Hey Guys, I have a chance on a 95 fxd with 3000 miles on her. My ol Bud had a guy pull out on him In his own lane like a head on thing three years ago. He got off,got the bike fixed and parked it. Bad Dog pipes,Dyna jet carb conversion, bags, shield everything else mostly stock.
$8000, I think I can get $5800 for my 2000 1200 this little girl is total kromed out, jeted out to the max, free flow air things like that. Very fast over 4000 or so. I really love that Bike but I am thinking this is too good to pass up becides the vib flue gets to my hands/elbows after an hour or so on the Sporty.
Well, from what I've read, those EVO motors da shizzzzz... so, I dunno? If you really want it, then go for it. I dont think anyone here can tell you what you should do. Just gotta go on your instincts I guess, right? lol.. whatever you chose, I'm sure you'll be happy. And especially for only having 3000 miles.. but wait, does it have a rebuilt title or any of that? I'd completely go over that thing before buying it. And have you already had interest in the sporty? Market is kinda tough right now man.. anyway, good luck!
I agree with Adrian. Do what feels right. The only caution that I would have is the fact that it was involved in a wreck, so at least make sure the frame isn't cracked, bent, or anything like that.

What do youall think about that year ride?? J.
What is "vib flue" and "free flow air things like that"?
What is the blue book value of that bike? it's 14 yrs old with 3000 miles on it. From what you wrote, the bike has been sitting for 3 yrs. Tires may be dry-rotted (new tires automatic). Carb/tank may be gummed up. Fluids may be trashed with moisture. If you're cool with doing all THAT first before starting it then have at it. If you like the bike, and want it buy it. Nobody can really tell you either way sight-unseen.
Looks like 8g-9g is going price of 95 fxd's. Between possible tires, carb cleanup / tank cleanup, fresh oil, tranny, primary fluids, maybe the cables are frozen. Who knows.

Thanks Folks, BO is an very long term Friend we have been on together for a many years. He is going to do all the prep work on that fxd so its up and running before I get over San Antonio way. He actually laid it down so the Bike got off with just a bent crash bar. Bo was in leather helmet and gloves but got a few hurts anyway..This was the last go around for him .
We would trade rides every now and then before all this, its a nice bike.
Vibe flue = Vibration thru the drag bars on the Sporty.
Not really asking about the risk in buying, more like well known problems with a 95 fxd.
Thanks Again. J.
I don't know of any problems on a '95, I do however think the price is high, I've seen lot's of late model Dynas on craigslist for not much more, saw a 2007 lowrider for 9500.00 w/ 7K miles yesterday. I know he's your friend, but I would rather buy a '95 with 40K that saw regular use than one with 3K that sat in a garage. Despite the low mileage, 14 years, 3k, that's only 215 miles a year, too many problems when a bike sits that much.
Good thoughts all. There is a fair amount of sentament involved here but if the Sporty goes well Im gunna go for it even though I know exactley whats in that piglet inside out.
A big bent elbow with the Tecate to all of ya!!! J.
