Inner Primary Bearing headed south (again!)
Last few rides, I've thought I was hearing that distinctive sound again. When I'd try to listen closely, I didn't seem to hear it, though. Got in a hundred-miler yesterday, and went for a shorter ride this afternoon. Ain't no mistaking it now; that steel rollerskate wheel sound when I let the clutch lever out. It's not as loud as the first time it went (3900-mi). Now I have 12,500 on the clock. I'm hoping they'll do more than just swap in a new bearing & race; maybe do a little "root cause analysis".
I extended my factory warranty last September, just before my roadtrip and just before it was to expire. I know some of you have been getting this fix done for free outside your warranty, but these NW Dealers don't seem to be too generous with things like that. I have a Tuesday morning appointment to take it in for round-2...just hoping this isn't a scheduled 12-round bout. Does anyone have any new Service Bulletins on this ongoing issue?
Damn man, sorry to hear. I'd maybe put a little pressure on them this time. Don't expect them to go out of their way to find root cause without a little boot in the *** action from you.
don't envy you. between my 10k and fixing this problem, i just sunk 750 into my bike. sux, for sure.
my harley dealership dicked me around to no end. nope~never covered anything. and never will i return to them for ANYTHING!!! i had a friend of mine replace everything in there with high performance parts which he guaranteed for life~never mind this replacing @every 10 k crap. now i'm good to go, for the lifetime of my bike, inner primary-wise.
i've not heard of any new recalls.
sorry for yah....

I'm gonna pitch that to the service writer...plant the idea in his head and hope it takes root when he calls Milwaukee for direction/approval. Maybe they could just swap in a new 96"xSix package they've laying around!
