Ever since my scoot got knocked over in a parking lot 6 months ago I've been mentally ill about parking in a legal parking spot that I can't see from inside the store. It wasn't the $600 as much as the mental picture of my bike under a BMW.
Yesterday I stopped in a store (Whole Foods Market) for a bowl of soup and this particular strip center was ROCKING with cars! I took one spoonful, was freaking out, and asked for a go cup and went outside with a plastic spoon and sat on a curb next to the bike.
Any of you guys park regularly on the sidewalk? Seems like anytime I do I catch some s*** from a different chubby, red faced, female, rent-a-cop on a golf cart. I'm good for 2 calm responses before I lose it on them... LOL.

Like HD dyna said if i have to stop in a big lot i park right up front next to the light pole in the no parking area with the diagonal lines. Another hint is if you do have to park between two cars in a parking spot dont park all the way in the spot park the bike toward the front of the spot so a car doesn't swing in the spot thinking nothings there and hit your bike. Or you park way back in the lot where no one else is parking so everyone sees the bike.
I take my bike grocery shopping every Sunday morning to the HEB IN livingston, TX. I park in the diagonaly marked spot in front of the HEB. Thats private property. The LEO's have nothing to say about it unless the property owner complains. The owners aren't going to do that. The employees and customers get a kick out of me packing the bike from a shopping cart. I live 30 miles from the closest grocery store.
So it's ok to park on the diagonally stripped spots?
Since parking lots are private property, technically, it's up to the property owner. That being said, I parked in the diagonal stripes at the mall one time and found a "courtesy ticket" in my helmet. "This is not a parking space, please move your vehicle to a marked space." Or some **** like that.
