The guy who just painted my bike recommended Meguier's NXT Paste Wax. He thought it was the best on the market. I picked some up at Wal-Mart and it went on adn came off nice. Left the paint pretty slick.
I personally have never thought that a product not intended for automotive finishes should be applied to them. A bunch of guys on here talk about using pledge and stuff like that and if they never have a problem, that is great. But I won't do it. Just my .02.
I would use Meguires #2, scratch X, #9 and then follow up with a wax of your choice. There are quite a few posts on this and there is one on a new turtle wax for black paint.

The reason I recommend these steps is from my reading of the post that he may have put fine scratches or scuffed the paint. You're not going to get rid of damage with pledge, which I would not use on my furniture let alone my bike finish, but that is just me. I have not tried it yet, but NXT sounds like a good wax.

Meguier's makes alot of easy to use products go to any good Napa or Carquest let them school you on the many products to acheive perfection.
Pledge is for lazzy guys who want to have a quick shine look at their paint bet they have millions of scratches in their paint.
Goodlooking paint takes some time not all day its a bike...
I like the Maguires Scratch X...but I found myself having to apply several coats of this in order to get all of the fine scratches out of the finish. I also like the Turtle Wax Quick Wax for just a quick polish to get some of the dust off.
I use Meguiar's Gold wax. My paint job was done in 2002 and still looks great! I never use bike-specific products... I think it's a waste of money. I use their whole line actually except for Mother's Billet chrome polish.
Try Max wax, I use all sorts of stuff like turtle wax, back to black etc but the best auto wax by far is symonize Max wax, you can put it on straight from the bottle with a dry cloth. I did the split tank test and compared to other brands it way better than anything else, and believe me I've polished a lot of bikes in my time. It comes in a bright green bottle, hope this helps
