While changing the wheels on my street bob I got a chance to take a look at the motor mounts. The service manual says to inspect them when bike is serviced and I always look at them at that time. Have read on here alot of people say they have had problems with them. Mine look good to me, don't appear to be separating. Has no more vibration than it had when new, which was never felt to be excessive to me. 07 street bob with 13,000 miles. Anyone else not have a problem with mounts or have any idea how long they should last? Thanks in advance for any input.
11,000km on my Fatbob. The fwd mount looks to be touching at the top and the vib's are increasing. Had a look at a new one off the shelf and there is a definite gap at the top. Also had a look at a new Fatbob at the dealer and the fronf mount looks just the same as mine. Obviously the whole lot sags when fitted. Perhaps filling the gap at the top with some type of rubber before fitting? Will also follow the procedure as mentioned on this forum about using spacers under the mount bolts to try and relieve any inbuilt stresses.
In answer to your question. My mount is probably OK, but I'm not really all that happy with it.

Thanks but yes I have read that post and every other one I found in the search function. Not trying to be a D!@k but all the posts seem to be from people who have excess vibration or other reasons for replacing the mounts. Although I can understand that, I don't have any problems like that and was really looking for input from people who have put some miles on their bike without any motor mount issues. My front mount does appear to sag, but so do all the ones on new dynas I've seen at several dealers.
P.S. salesman don't like it if you get down to get a close look at the front mount on new bikes in the showroom. For some reason they get pissy.
I have an 02 wide glide with 87,000+miles on it and still has the original mounts and only few vibes except at idle and all the "A" motors shake at idle anyway. I put on the vance&hines 2into1 exhaust and it got even smoother. A little sewing machine rattle up top but that's normal too. I've been very impressed with the longevity of everything except tires, brake pads, and cam chain tensioners------jack
My mounts are still fine. But a lot of them seem to fail early. I think this has to do with engine alignment process at the factory because there are quite a few bikes that have alignment/mount issues very early. If yours are fine like mine are then your engine was most likely aligned properly when assembled into the frame.
