I want to lower my rear 1" to 1 1/2" and want to cut(Bob) and lower fender. Is there a shock that I can limit wheel travel so tire will not hit fender. I would like to get tire as close to fender as possible.

I would like to keep a decent ride too.
Any ideas, or things to consider?
I dont have any info on the fender for you.im still running that ugly *** bobtail stock fender. As far as lowering, I did a set of progressive 11" 412's they arent the top of line, like you will get many on this forum but for around $200 they are 1" shorter and trust me even givin up that 1" they ride better than the stock HD 12". Im not a small guy at 6'0 250 my wife is 5'11 175,and on mid setting it rides fine. I live in north east oklahoma and truct me its a rough ride around this place. before I changed shocks she never wanted to ride, now I cant keep her off bike.
I am 6'1" 230 and they are much better than stock. Rebound dampening is a million times better and the ride overall is smoother (I am at the 2nd to highest setting). I am kind of a fan of our stock fender, just put in the 3 bar LED taillight and it looks great
It's all about how much money you are willing to spend when it comes to suspension. Forum member FastHarley sells aftermarket suspension too. Check his site out at motorcycle metal or something like that.
Thanks FatRon for asking the questions about the shocks. I want to lower my Fat Bob a little bit but wasn't sure what other guys were doing.
I actually like the rear fender, I wanted a bob tail type fender when I was looking for a new bike.
I think I try the Progressive 412, 11 inch shocks and see how they do. I'm 6'6" tall and weigh in at 195 to 200 and never have a passenger. Maybe a T-bag full of luggage is about all the extra weight I'll normally ride with.
Does anyone have any better shock options other than the Progressive 412's. I know some say they are worth a crap, but obviously some think they are okay.
I am looking into the 11" 412s as well....can't beat the price and they keep the look of the stock ones...check out this link to a thread on this forum. It's a youtube video of Arnott air adjustable shocks. They go from 9.5" to 13" I believe. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...ferrerid=86410
I ordered the 412's 11" HD (412-40545B). They are the black ones and are HD (heavy duty) because I weigh 205 and sometimes have a passenger. I spoke with a Progressive tech and they recomended I go HD. I should have them on this weekend and will let you know how they ride.
The stock FatBob shocks are 12" and I like they way they ride.
Still undecided on chopping fender. Not sure if I remount the fender an inch lower if I could use the stock seat and have a passenger..
I put the ones in this link on mine last year. They make 1" and 1.75" I think I went with the 1". Gave the bike a lower look and I didn't really notice a difference in the ride.
