I'm looking to install some Bub Straightaways on my 2009 FXD. This will be my 1st set of new pipes on any bike.
1. Does anyone know if these allow easy access to the oil fill/dipstick?
2. Can I just bolt them on and ride? Is tuning the fuel injector really necessary? If all that's going to do is get me 1 more hp, screw that..I just want to hear more than just the wind when I ride.
You shouldn't have any problems getting to the oil fill/dipstick. In the photos it looks like you might but you should have plenty of room. I'm looking at new pipes for my lowrider and I'm going to tune it and open it up to keep it cool. I think I'll notice enough of a difference and be happy I did it. It's not only HP, you'll notice it runs better....more repsonsive.
I may be wrong but I don't think that you will need to adjust the EFI by just changing your pipes. At that point the amount of air going through the engine will be restricted more by your A/C and the computer will keep the air/fuel ratio at factory specs. I put slip-ons and screaming eagle A/C on and had HD reflash the computer. Maybe wishful thinking after spending all that money but the bike seems to have more power.

It should and probably does have more power. Just make sure that reflash was enough to handle the changes.
+1 on Superglide's comment....pipes and a/c as stated and picked up 11 hp and 11 # torque with good dyno session on PCIII over non dyno results. Always struck me as odd that someone would drop $900-1200 on stage one and leave the good running/power on the table to save $200. John
