The hidden reservoir might be a PITA to mount, and with the hose hanging off, look like **** too! Mike
True.... The model I was looking at didn't have the reservoir I think. Have to call Howard soon to get the process underway. The stock shocks are just sooooo bad..
Wow! I keep toying with the idea of buying Ohlins, their shocks are so highly recommended it's not funny. The chromed resevoirs look great too. How easy is it to adjust the preload? I'd have to go between how I ride when I'm on the bike alone and how it would be when my wife gets on as well.

Get shocks with hydraulic preload and it'll be extremely simple. The more basic ones use spring preload, which means you'll need to use a wrench. Not a big deal either.
this makes no sense at all - why the mystery?
price factors into EVERYTHING we buy - why so difficult to quote the price?
also -he didn't have any input or report - because it's raining.
no doubt the ohlins will give a great ride and i'd guess the OP will be quite happy with them. in general - they look good too - but for the price (whatever that is) they should come with a black reservoir. the gold sticks out like a sore thumb (see last pic).
Leeinmemphis, I have the Ohlins 36PRCLB shocks on my '06 Streebob and have written on this forum about the ride quality- exceptional, to say the least. On the front I have dual brakes using V-rod lowers(no change in rake/trail thanks to Howard's machining internals), racetech cartridge emulators and progressive springs. Set to my weight/riding style. Beautiful companion to the Ohlins shocks. Jay
