Received my Ohlins shocks today....(some pics)
Sorry for asking about the price. Didnt realize that was a big no-no around here.
I'm used to people asking/informing each other about price. I'm not shopping around, but if the price comes out reasonable enough, it may be an impulse buy on my end.
Slowly learning the "etiquette" on this site. Just different than what I'm used to.
Again, my apologies for my lack of "gentleman" behavior.

If you don't like the gold reservoirs, which I didn't (reminds me of the rappers from the 80's with the big gold chains)...you can always get them chromed. Howard @ MotorcycleMetal helped with this extra work.
Yes it was not inexpensive, but was fortunate to get a break on the pricing.

<<< Tom, please just ride your bike till the wheels fall off. Chrome will not get you through your 3 week riding season up there. This project is not one I wish to take on any time soon.
rounder, BTW all Ohlin's have the same internals...etc.
<<< You are correct with the exception of a separator piston for applications where we separate the oil from the nitrogen gas. To see how these units work please go to my site under Penske as they both use the same type (sort of) system. That is why the ride is far superior than anything else out there. For the pre-owned Progressive shock crowd, you already know the difference.
This type of shock uses the spring only to hold the axle in place. The spring rate matches a neutral setting whereas if the moves up or down the spring only handles the same weight as it was originally designed for. The piston is the factor that regulates the action which has in your case a high, medium, and low speed compression and rebound orifices found on either the top or bottom of the piston. There is also shim packs that allows us to change the settings (more or less resistance) to tune the shock to your exact preference and ride.
Other companies rely on the spring to do the suspension part. That is one of many differences and that is why you Ohlins owners are experiencing the ride you are and any other shock is not.
Tom, what it looks like apart just before chroming/polishing. PS keep your shocks on.
Good stuff guys!

I wonder if Howard can have them done in black semigloss with black springs? Would look killer...
