Went to the dealer the other day to kick tires & day dream like I usually do. I am pretty much stuck to the Dyna bikes because they fit in my price range. I really was set on a Street Bob but they just got in two brand new Superglides a standard and a custom. The Custom is very nice and when I sat on it I liked it alot!! So I had them do the paperwork and just before I put my money down and signed a little voice in my head said "Wait a minute! You better think this over and get some peoples advice first" So that is why I am here to get advice from the experts! So I am hoping to get feedback on the SuperGlide...Any (good or Bad) will be greatly appreciated...
Like you, I was also considering a SG Custom. I already own an ElectraGlide and my wife has a Sportster. Being over 6'2 I want something less cumbersome for local riding than the Glide but need something larger (frame wise) than the Sportster. To that end, I took a Fatbob for a test ride last month. My first impression was that the bike had A LOT of noticable vibration. I don't know if the fat front tire affects this. Also, it was an escorted ride during an open house event so I never got past 45 MPH. In any event, what I am getting at is that perhaps the Dyna's could all benefit from the extra isolation that running boards provide and they aren't available from H-D. In spite of that, the SG Custom may be the best value in H-D's lineup right now. The extras, compared to the standard SG look to be well worth the price difference. Also, same drive train as every other big twin (except Screamin Eagles) and I have no complaints about that. Economy being what it is today, the best price I have been offered for a SG Custom in vivid black was MSRP OTD ($13,000)
I have to concur, The Super Glide Custom is the best bike for the money in the Dyna line. Check out my pics, I just purchased one this past Saturday and already have 200 miles on her. It rides like a dream, you won't want to get off...Get the Custom...
It's not that it "may be" the best value in the HD lineup - it IS the best value/bang for the buck. Compare it to what you'd pay for a standard SG and figure what it would cost to add the extras you get on the custom. That is, assuming you like the extras (chrome, console, bigger tank, 2 up setup, etc.). I bought my 07 SGC in late 06 and a year later, the very same bike (08 and up) was over 1000 dollars cheaper because HD dropped the MSRP but didn't change the bike. Mine was $15k OTD but that was the tail end of when most dealers wouldn't knock off a dime. At that price, it's certainly worth considering other bikes, which is probably why they dropped the MSRP. But, in the dyna family, unless you are in love with black vs. chrome (street bob) or fat wheels, dual headlights, and a bobbed fender (fat bob), or having a tach and stock highway pegs (lowrider) or a plain jane bike to make your own from the ground up (super glide standard), or just can't stand a grey motor and must have black powder coat (fat bob, street bob (sort of), lowrider), you can't beat what you get for the money in the SGC.
Pissed me off royaly when they dropped the price. But nothing I can do to change it. But it definitely is the best value now.

Thanks in advance, JB
I just bought an 08 with 1200 miles. I was shopping for a Road King or a Fatboy. I came across this 08 at a dealer and liked it especially for the price. It has taken getting used to as it was a change from my VTX which is lower and wider. Like you, I sought the advice on here and got positive response, I rode it all day Saturday and really got the feel for it, this bike will scoot. I still want my Fatboy someday, but for now the Dyna SGC was a good fit.
I looked at alot of them an the salesman talked me into the custom.. kept telling me it was the best for the buck.. One time In my life I had a good sales person.. LOL
13,223.00 an even got them to put the forward controls in the deal...
I dont know why youre thinking about it.
If I would have had the extra grand, I would have got one.
But then, I wouldnt have what I have now if I did....
