Im as new as you can get.. Made a few changes to by bike. Have a 09 Dyna custom. Ive search an read an Im just old an confused. So take it easy on me. I want to put new shocks on.. Im 6"1 240 Im looking at the 412s but here there for lighter people. Want to lower the back a bit. But need to know if I do , do i have to do anything to the front.. looked at the 440s any advice will be apprecaited ........
I'm 6-2 and 235 (on a good day). I have the 12 inch 412 HD's and they work fine. My girl is about 125 so even riding 2 up it feels fine. The 12" ones noticably lowered mine. Tried 11 inchers but that was too low.
Some on here swear by the ohlins and works shocks but I didn't wanna drop that much cash.
Some on here say the 440's are a wate of money but I have no first hand knowledge.
A tank lift will also give the appearance of a lowered rear end too. If interested in that, do a search for jackyl tank lift.

The plain 412's are geared more for rider weights under 200lbs. I'm running the 412 hd's(i'm 280lbs) and have them set on the 3rd setting and have no problems with them bottoming out. Even with the girl on the back(135lbs) they are fine. Stock shock height I think is 12.6" and I went with the 12" to lower it just a bit, but I also went with a low profile seat so I could sit even lower.

I have the 412HD's and did the fork springs/oil also, it feels fine to me for a cruiser, I know better shocks are out there but I'm happy with my setup.

Thanks JCK! And no, I didn't do anything to the front suspension yet. I've been thinking of doing more to my bike, but at the same time, trying to talk myself outta it and start saving that money to put towards a bagger! That way the dyna's for me & the baggers for us!
