hey guy,
Since I added my solo seat I find that I need storage sometimes. I am not a fan of the saddlebags look but don't see another source for storage. I looked at the compact ones and they seem like the way to go. Also, do you have to buy the mounting brackets or do they tie down to the frame? Input please.
Thanks
Tim
don't really know. I looked at a set at the HD dealer today but I don't know anything about saddlebags. I have a backrest bag that I use when I have the full seat on and the backrest.
I trying a solo bag from garage leather. I just need something to put a windbreaker and some small items for a day ride. Should get it next week. Saddlebags are just too bulky looking for me, but realize to some a necessary evil.
If you had a 2 up seat you could go with a throwover like the one I had on my 01 FXD.
There are dozens of saddlebag makers at all kinds of prices. Jaffrum is the lowest I've found but they aren't the best quality out there. Sometimes on ebay you can find some good deals too. What is your budget?
Edge brackets or Easy brackets are the most popular saddlebag brackets if you want something clean you can take on and off quickly.
I need them but like you i prefer the look without them! So I got rigid mount bags , saved some money there ,and devised a way to get them off in 20 seconds a side!
You can get a detachable luggage rack and truck bag, that is what I have, that bag I got is expandable so I can use it for longer trips as well. It's a Kuyakyn mini grande tour bag, I love it.
I needed a little space as well. Just enough for a jacket and a few things for a day trip or enough room to bring something home form a store.
I went with a small roll bag and it works great. Comes on and off easy and I have 2 different size ones depending on what I need. I sit mine on my passenger seat but would work on a solo rack as well.
when I need to take stuff with me I just throw on a backpack, not the most comfortable but it has ipod spot with headphone hole, even hydration pack compatable, and I get to keep my bike lookin how I like it
