Question Tires/ Brake Pad Replacement

I have an 06 Wide Glide that needs some 2 new tires. I have done a search and and it seems that a few folks like the Michelin's and am leaning that way. There was mostly posts about the touring folks liking the Michelin's. The stock dunlops give me 13900 miles and wore very evenly both the front and rear. While the wheels are off should I have anything else done? I was thinking maybe the brake pads should be replaced since they are starting to get a little noisy. Do they surface the rotors when you put new pucks in or just replace them too? Nothing is really wrong just hate paying twice for the same work in a few thousand miles. Appreciate any input or guidance I can receive.

I have also posted this in the general to get maximum exposure

Default Tires and Brakes

I have a Michelins on my bike and love the way they handle. The pegs start to drag way before the tires are ready to give up. Cant speak to the mileage as they only have about 2K on them. Brake pucks are easily replaced without taking the wheel off the bike. If the rotor is grooved, I would have it turned while the rear is apart otherwise you're good to go.

I just changed to Metzlers 880 Marathons. Lots on here liked them or the Avons. Changed about 500 miles ago or so. So far very happy over the stock Dunlops. Like said before brake pads can be changed with wheels on, very easily. I just changed them as well. Tried Lyndall Gold pads as every one was saying good things about them as well.

Dyna rider,

Which Michelins did you go with? Sorry about the later response the work thing got in the way of really following this thread

Can I replace the rear brake pads on my Dyna without removing the wheel? I don't see how to do it, since the caliper is held on by the axle bolt. I want to upgrade to Lyndall's, but will wait until I need a new tire if I need to remove the rear wheel again. I still have nightmares from the last time.

Per the manual, yes. It's the 2 1/4" 12 point bolts that hold the pads on the caliper anyway.

I wish I could get that kind of mileage from a tire! I went with an Avon Storm/Venom combo this last time. I'm really likeing it so far! Also changed to Lyndoll Zplus pads at the same time too. Much better feel!
