I had the same problem. Took the bike to the shop, they retorqued the bearings on the fork. it work great for a while, now its starting to clunk again.
Sorry to resurrect an old post, but I thought I would post my recent experience regarding a clunking noise when going over bumps for those who may find this post in a search.
Recently, when I would go over bumps I would hear a noise that sounded like the junk in my saddle bags being bounced but it was coming from the front. Turns out my front fender somehow came loose - had a bout an 1/8 inch play in it. Dealer is tightening it now since the front tire has to come off to do it and that's not something I have the means to do.
