Im going to get 1 or the other of these dynas, New.
Hi Everybody, Im new to the forum. Looking for a little insight as to which bike would be a better choice for me.
My 2 favs for different reasons are
Superglide Custom or Fat Bob
Like the looks of the superglide custom, its 2K cheaper I would be doing alot of modding to it, like change wheels, headlight, handlebars as well as exhaust, intake, PC. But, would I be disappointed with the handling stability of it compared to the Fat Bob.
The Fat Bob would need very little except for exhaust, intake, PC.
Bottom line, I like the way the Superglide looks, and it would be fun
to blow alot of money making it look cooler than it already does. But is the Fat Bob that much better of a bike ? (Because of its special tires and dual brakes)
Ive heard - read more than once that the Fat Bob is the best handling Harley Ever. Really, that good? Thats a strong statement. How much better handling, braking, stability than the other dynas ?
I really appreciate hearing your experience and opinions on these 2 bikes.
I ride a Kawasaki vulcan 900 custom now by the way.

HA! That is the same exact bike I had until I traded it in on my street bob! lol.. mine was an 07' though. Pretty fun bike, and badass!
BUT! If I had to choose all over again, I would have gone with the fat bob. I like the looks of it a bit better. Love the fat front tire, dual brakes, dual headlights.. all that good stuff. Very nice ride. Not sure about the handling of it compared to other harleys, but I'm sure others will chime in.
no matter what you do to the superglide you will have a silver engine. The fatbob is a very popular dyna nowadays. I think it's styling, ride, and price are right on par with being the perfect bike from the moco factory.
I don't think there is an appreciable difference between the two in regards to handling. "Best handling" is relative and very few of us choose an H-D for this attribute. You'll enjoy either one.
As stated above, best handling is subjective. I have had a few bikes and rented several others when I travel. I put 500 on a Fat Bob and while I enjoyed it, I didn't think it was drastically better than some others. That said though I think it is the 2nd best bike HD makes.... If I was going to buy a new one it would be a Fat Bob.
Having come from a FJR Sport Touring...I love the handling of the Super Glide. Handles great but won't go to 130mph in the bat of an eye. I do miss that occaisionally. By the way, welcome to HDF. Geez
Its an opinion, mine is i dontlike the fatbob at all, I like the wideglide the best but it was alot more, superglide 2nd,street bob 3rd,the rest are ugly imo.
I would suggest you find a dealer with both bikes and take a test drive of both before you plunk down the bucks. I would say, that the Fat Bob might have a better resale value in years to come, and It's really a popular bike here on the Forum. Now, I understand they are bringing back the Wide Glide for 2010.
Personally I dont care for the "silver" engine look that the superglide has on certain colors. Also, sit on them both..... the Fat Bob has a LOW seat and wide body. The Streetglide sits higher and has a skinnier front. If I could have gotten my legs around and down flat to the ground on a Fat Bob, and could have reached the forward controls, I would have gotten a Fat Bob. Love the fat front tire and the overall look of the bike.

Personally I dont care for the "silver" engine look that the superglide has on certain colors. Also, sit on them both..... the Fat Bob has a LOW seat and wide body, is about 20 pounds heavier and has larger headlights and shorter length. The Supertglide Custom sits higher and has a skinnier front. If I could have gotten my legs around and down flat to the ground on a Fat Bob, and could have reached the forward controls, I would have gotten one. I like the wider front tire and rear tires. IMHO, I just prefer the overall look of the FB over the SG Custom.
P.S. Welcome to the HD Forum and Dyna Group. Hope you'll be a frequent visitor and what ever you decide, post photos of your new ride!!!
