I have not tried the others the original poster listed. I can tell you that I am completely satisified with the HD quick detach compact windshield. It takes the wind off you and keeps the cold off of you during the fall/winter months. I like the look of it too. Perfect fit for me and my ride. I get no buffeting either.
Most buffeting I have ever experienced has come from below.
I have the HD Sporty quick-detach and think it's a good shield.
I needed it lower to see over, so I trimmed the area above the headlight so I could drop it. Most people cut from the top, but this seemed like a better way as it really hugs the light, and blocks more air at the bottom.
I've also added lower wind deflectors directly to the shield so everything can come back off when it warms up.
I rode in 60° weather with sunglasses. I have very sensitive eyes, so the cold and wind are killers on them. I usually ride with Panoptix glasses with the foam eye cups to block out all the wind. This says a lot to me!
I also have my custom backrest, so the wind pushing has never been a problem...I never ride without it.
This is what I'm leaning towards. Can you buy the the two pieces separately???
I'm not sure that you can buy the windvest hardware separately - I think you;re stuck buying the entire thing and then swapping out the windscreen part for the Cee Bailey's replacement. You might want to contact windvest directly to see tho.
Shield angle has a lot to do with buffetting as I've found out. I have the HD QD Sport shield, cut the top 3 inches off, then angled it all back so the top is almost touching the bars and so far it's the best ride yet. Feels like I could almost smoke while riding with it that way (if I smoked). I had bad turbulance before, but now it cuts the wind better and produces a lot less turbulance.
i found a HD standard height shield on ebay for 150 so i bought it. had a lot of buffeting so i cut it down. first cut it down to the short one. still had some buffeting so i cut 2 more inches off and now i very little to none. took the wind off my chest still get wind in my face but not as bad. i only use it on the highway. i cut a total of 7 inches off the wind shield.
Does anyone sell replacement shields for the HD, QD hardware? I can not ride with the standard height shield, the buffeting is intolerable. Way better off without it. But with cold weather here in New England I'm looking for options. I have done lots of testing and it seems that the lower it is set the better. Trouble is, it cant be set low enough. Any shorter, more pitched options? Failing that, what do you guys use to cut down the stock shield? I don't want to butcher it up!!! I may have to sell it! BTW 6 feet even, on an 07 SuperGlide. Thanks guys

What kind of helmet do you wear?
On my old bike, if I rode with my helmet that had a small visor it caught the air coming up and created buffeting.
