Default ***updated*** Best Very Short Windshield?

After returning the Memphis Shades Slim 15 inch windshield due to extreme head buffeting and not wanting to have anything taller due to how it looks on my Low, I have decided to go with a chest only windshield. I wear a full-face so I really only need some relief from the constant push of the air on my chest. From what I have read, this option will eliminate any extreme head buffeting issues.

I want a non handlebar mounted one. Here are five options that DO NOT mount on the handlebars.

In order of attached thumbnail images:
1. HD Quick-Release Detachable Compact Windshield Low Profile - @ (14.3 inches)
2. Memphis Shades Del Rey Sportshield Windshield - @ (13 inches)
3. National Cycle Flyscreen LS - @ (8.5 inches)
4. National Cycle SwitchBlade Shorty Clear Windshield - @ (11.5 inches)
5. Windvest Clear - @ (14 inches)

Anyone tried any of them? I like the look of the National Cycle Flyscreen the most. Am I missing any others that fit Dyna's and help reduce chest air?

Unless you are going with a riser type mount, the Windvest goes on the handlebars. However, it is sleek and well designed. Also, I dont think National Cycle has 49MM clamps that will allow the FlyScreen to be mounted on newer Dynas.

Of the 3 that are left, I'd go with the Memphis Shades Del Rey. I have a Del Rio and like it .... have found it to be better than the Harley QD which is now a wall ornament in my shed.

I could take that wall ornament off your hands. I have been contemplating the same purchase. Let us know what you choose and how it works

4. National Cycle SwitchBlade Shorty Clear Windshield - @ (11.5 inches)
That's the one I bought for my trip from VA to SD next week. I've only put on 250ish miles with it, so I can't give a complete report. I've never ridden with a shield before, so didn't really know what to expect.

I wasn't expecting the wind to be redirected and blowing up my nose instead of at my nose. It's not bad, but wasn't expecting it.

Rode through some good bug country at 10pm and never ate a single 1 of em'. Not sure if that's thanks to the shield or dumb luck.

I need to ride in the rain to make a final decision if I really like the shield or not, but it's ok. Don't love it, but sure don't hate it. Plus - I found it for 69 bucks so it was worth a try...

From what I've read on other forums, the fly screen is not going to help you enough.

I think any short shield is going to have alot of buffeting.

Save your money on the windshield since you obviously dont like it and get a seat with a drivers backrest.

I got rid of my shield because of buffeting as well. Since I added my seat with the backrest this relieves the push to the chest since you are against a backrest.

With the drivers backrest and a full face helmet I can do more miles more comfortablly than i could with a windshield.

I have the Fly Screen and have been very happy with it. It keeps the wind off of my chest and no buffeting.

I have The HD sport shield, no problems with buffeting, but I've never had a problem with that so maybe I'm just not paying attention.

I have the Del Rio NOT the Del Rey. The Del Rio provides me with a cleaner wind than the Harley shield. I've always felt that was because it can be mounted so much tighter to the headlight. With a visor trim ring you can actually get the light to extend beyond the shield which also helps in not getting that aweful backlighting on the shield at night. Do I get some turbulent wind? (Yes) Do I find it to be less that the MOCO shield? (Yes) Would I go back the MOCO Shield? (No)

Here's a few pics ...
