i thought wide glide was wider front end on a dyna glide model, i always thought the rear struts were also wider than the rest of the dyna line, i think i am wrong on that second part, if there was more than one bike in the dyna line with the wider trees, i would assume they would have came up with a different name
I purchased my first HD Wide Glide this year and it was the one single bike that caught my eye, and once I sat on it i knew right away it was what i wanted, but the other bikes i thought looked terrible, but when i seen them in person i was like wow, that one looks good too... I will say this much,I like the back fender the way it is, i see these older fenders where they turn up and have the tail light on them and i see my Honda shadow, now im sure Honda stole that look, but its what i see.
I did like the Bob though, i really like the Fat front tire on them, but i like spokes, i wish they had put the fat tire on the wide glike with a spoked wheel. and it has just about the right amount of chrome for me, i was never a big chrome fan, chrome to me looks cheap. in fact, i wouldnt mind blacking out just a bit more of the chrome they put on the bike.
Also, I wish they had left the little useless sissy bar off, or better made it another 6 inches taller so i could bungy a backpack to it for when im going out of town.
I am waiting for some owners to start customizing this bike so i can see what looks good to me and what dont before i go changing things, Right now i plan to just ride it and be damned happy i finally am able to afford a Harley and get off the metrics, that means a lot to me and Harley has been able to keep a couple models in an affordable price range for guys like me and i think that is the important issue.
I'm keeping this poll simple. Unless of coarse you still like egg salad...
I like the bike, but it's not a Wide Glide.
Hmmm.... I think HD has millions in R&D and marketing (not to mention copyrights) that say it is. Basically the only "thing" I have read that makes it "not" a Wide Glide is a bob fender. My question is what difference does that REALLY make? Almost zero, IMO.

I'm only answering because I was quoted in your message following up with a question. I also thought this thread was dead. Welcome to the party that started 5 months ago...
First off - the V&H BR looks 100 times better on your WG than the stock tommy gun.
If you read post #60 in this thread, that's where I'm coming from...
Being a traditional WG owner - their millions on R&D didn't do anything for me. Actually, I haven't seen a post or know anyone who had/has a traditional WG and got rid of it for the 10' model. Their price point alone will make this a big seller, but there won't be one in my garage.

Thanks for the compliment on the pipes. I like the way they look way better as well, and man they sound great - and I wasn't a guy looking for loud when I started off either. LOL. But they are so low and rumbling that I love 'em.
Just so you know, I only quoted you as a way of narrowing what I was 'answering," since you started the thread and posted the poll. I just happened to see the thread after someone brought it back to life. Actually I had read part of it shortly after I joined the forum but decided not to wade in at that point because things seemed so contentious. I meant no disrespect.
I get what you are saying about your preference, and I actually am planning on spending some hard earned cash doing more chrome parts on mine, because for a cruiser I like chrome...so I am working on that part...but doesn't that lust to change what came off the line kind of come with ALL Harley's? Just doesn't seem like " I would change this and I would change that" is a reason for folks (maybe not you) to feel so passionately that the name badge should be ripped off the bike. :-))

I don't know exactly what is a story of the Wide Glide..?
Big treeple tree, 21' front wheel, more rake..?
The new one 2010 is very beautiful (for my regards), and i want to order one (in vivid black) at the beginning of the year..!
I confess i do not really love the original old one..(sorry)
Perhaps the new 2010 Wide Glide is made for new adopters like me..?

I think I mentioned that Wayyyyy earlier in the thread. . . I believe that the people who really liked the "classic" Wide Glide probably already have one. The changes were probably made strictly on a marketing basis to pull in those who were never a fan of the Wide Glide styling in the first place. Since the "bobber" look seems to be what is in now days, they swung the bike in that direction.
I think that the question of the thread wasn't weather or not you "LIKED" the new Wide Glide as much as it was weather or not you thought it retained enough of the original styling to still be "CALLED" a Wide Glide (and it isn't -- style wise at least -- only a matter of having wide forks up front). Those that never liked the older versions of the bike that all of a sudden think the newer one is the most beautiful bike they have ever seen kind of proves the point of those who believe that there isn't really enough of the styling that makes a WG a WG in the new bike. It is kind of like saying "the Wide Glide sucked until they turned it into a different bike".
That's clear Danktat !
I agree about that, you explain what i think without being able to say..That's cool..!
The new Wide Glide is a different bike, that's my opinion too !
And it's not necessary a bad news for Harley Davidson if they manage to sell more..
(I am ready to take the paris that she be released in black denim for 2011..Probability of success : one hundred percent..!)
