2006 Dyna Reliability?
Hi Guys, I wanted to wait till I got pictures of myself and the new bike before I really started posting, but I have to wait till Saturday to pick her up and I am alil anxious about certain questions. I traded in my Roadstar on a 06 FXDWG. I love the look of the Wide Glide and its been my dream bike, second will be a Road King when I get older and or have the money for a touring bike and an around town bike. However, I can make that Dyna a touring bike if I need to
. Anyway I see that the false neutral has been fixed, and that the other issue concerning fuel injectors has been fixed. Being that I am buying mine now May 06, I would hope the new injectors are on it. But from doing a search on another problem, the 15k bearing replacement, I found that there has been no real answers to the questions that have been asked and I am just trying to see if there has been any news on it.
Will this bearing need to be replaced every 15k, or is it more a check-up on a new design?
Has Harley just come out with a new one and or a permanent fix?
Lastly, will a SE 6 speed fit on a dyna to just fix the darn problem, or do you think the new 07s if they are fixed will have a fitable trans for ours?
Thanks, I love Harley and can't wait to pick mine up...its been a dream of mine to own one. Ever since my grandad had his Road King as a child I wanted to have a bike...and a Harley. I, however, had to build my credit first and got on the metric...now the credits been built I am getting on what I really wanted to begin with. Hope to see ya on the road! Pictures coming Sat or Sun

I have put over two thousand miles on my 2006 FXDI. I have had no problems. After the first oil change, I had a little bit of metal filaments on the magnetic plugs. The Magnetic plugs have been spotless since. Yes I am surprised also. I would expect a small amount. I am getting between 48 and 52 MPG fuel milage. That is highway milage. City is between 42 and 44 MPG. Good Luck and enjoy your new bike.

I'm with Oldfartjc on this one...we wants some of dat magic gas here in Arizona. Not sure about my highway miles, no long rides yet, but only getting 38-40 in town.
I've got just under 5000 miles on my '06 DWG. Runs great. Got the SE/AC with a KN filter and Samson Street Sweepers. Tuned with a sert. I get about 45mpg running two up most of the time.
Don't worry about the Dyna, they're awesome bikes. Had mine for two months and put over 4500 miles on her. haven't had as much as a loose nut yet. According to both Harley dealer service managers I have talked to, Harley decided that the 15k check is not needed. Ride it and have fun....

Rest easy, all issues have been addressed. Your bike will have the new injectors, as you already found out. Harley has also looked at enough bearings to decide they are OK as-is. No need to do anything special or worry about it.
Congratulations on getting your dream bike!

Well, great, seems dynas are the best in technology for the Harleys other than the V-rods and they have no problems. I'm glad the bearing issue isn't an issue anymore...I'm quite at ease now
. I'll be posting pictures when I get her. Thanks for the help!

I just passed 5,000 miles on my '06 FXDCI and have had zero problems. And i got a letter from the moco stating that the bearing was not a problem, and the 15,000 change will not be required.

The improvements made to the '06 Dyna line (auto primary and cam chain tensioners, upgrading oil sump system,) along with the hydraulic valve lifters effectively make the Dyna one of the lowest - if not THE lowest, maintenance bikes on the market. That said, I'd like to see a hydraulic clutch added to minimize the need for clutch adjustments.
I'm waiting to see what's announced for '07 and more than likely, I'll be back on a Dyna.
