Wow, sometimes this big world can be so small.
If you are able, try to visit some of the larger Castles. There are many.
Burg Hohenzollerin, Neuschwanstein were my favorites.
I also really enjoyed the area's around Munich and Garmisch, Salzurg and the infamous Eagle's Nest and it's huge complex of tunnels built into the mountain.

edited to add, Skiing the Swiss Alps, having previously never been much more than 1000' above sea level,
was an AWESOME sight and probably my fondest memory of my time there.

149.7...BMW 525i, loaded down with 2 wimmenz luggage (was that heavy). It is amazing that even over in Germany, I'm doing close to 150 and I would still get idiots pulling out in front of me "only" doing 95.
On the way back from Wurzberg, tooling along at about 125, I got passed like I was standing still by 2 Porsche 911's.
125 on the Glide here in the states on the Interstate...slowed down 'cause I couldn't go any faster.
