It ran fine in ntrl. and when I put it first...just when I started picking up just a little speed (still in first ) it would start clunking pretty loud and then quit as soon as I slowed way down again. I never tried shifting. Didn't mess with any other mechanical parts while installing apes other than the clutch cable install so I figure that's the cause...just don't know how to fix it.
This is an old thread, but Im having the same issue. Went from 10 mini apes to 18. Bought a nice set of lines/cables from magnum shielding and installed everything. Everything went back together on the right side, double and triple checked. Took off the derby cover and adjusted the clutch pack. Still wont roll in gear with the clever pulled in. The gas tank and fenders just got custom paint so starting it up really isnt an option at the moment. Fluid is replenished and everything. Just dont understand what the problem is.
You must break the clutch plates free before you can push the bike in gear with the clutch lever pulled in.
Put the transmission into gear, pull the clutch lever and move the bike back and forth to break the clutch plates/discs free.
And even when the clutch plates/discs are broken free, don`t expect the bike to push as easy as if it were in neutral, it`s a wet clutch and there will always be drag between the plates and discs.
