To me, it has the best of both worlds (high flow and looks + rain cover) and it has a real nice backplate with a smooth/rounded venturi (if that's the right word).
I regret buying the stage one over the Kury but I didn't have the extra coin and I hadn't seen my neighbors before I bought the stg 1, had I I would have found the money, that's how much I like the look.

Edited to add, it is also not the same as what's on every second or third bike I see. That's a big plus to me.
