Bluing can look anywhere from a light yellowing color, to darker yellows/browns, all the way to a deep purple, and anywhere inbetween.
I don't know that you can do anything to remove it and keep it gone. Every bike I come across has blued pipes behind the shields.
Your heat shields should cover them up enough to where it's not an eye sore, right? Or are you bluing in your mufflers too?

They all do it. They call them heat shields but I think they are just as much "beauty covers" as they are shields for heat. How much heat to they actually seem to shield anyway? I need some heat shields for my heat shields.
