um.. so the bike has been sitting for bout a month. Never had any probs with it. I have always started it in first gear - with teh clutch in - and it has always started. Today, in first, clutch in, it would not start. I shifted it into neutral - and it started. This has never happened b4. All 3 times on my trip when I tried to start - it only started in Neutral. What's goin on?
I don't know about the 07' but the 09' has a clutch safety switch right behind the clutch hand lever. If this switch is not working properly the bike will only start in nuetral.
The '07 doesn't have a clutch switch, is your key light on (meaning a TSM code)? My TSM is throwing codes and because of this will only start in neutral...
It's kinda nice, so many other bike makers market this as a safety feature...

Mine does! I discovered this when I went to after market levers. The switch or button is depressed by a nub on the clutch lever. The after market levers didn't have the nub.

Really?!?! Looks like you have a LR there could it be difference between models?
I've had my housings apart more times then I care to think about... I'm positive that there isn't a clutch switch.
Old habits die hard. I always start the bikes in neutral but always pull the clutch lever. Don't know ifnewer bikes have a clutch switch but wouldn't doubt it. Big Brother IS watching you.
