Default Security ?

Added the factory security system to my bike this year.As the northern riders know I'ts time to start planning for winter storage. As usual I want to pull my battery for the winter. The question is will I have to reprogram my security system in the spring or will it be ok?
Would it be better if I pull the module as well? I have no Idea how long the battery in the module will last on it"s own.

Why not just leave it in and put a battery tender on it?

I'm a northern rider and I was completely unaware of that.

Do you mean that you put the siren module in? The security module itself doesn't care if the battery is pulled -- all the settings are in flash ROM. The siren has its own rechargeable 9v battery internally. It will care if you pull the main battery but not for the reason you cite -- it will think someone is trying to steal the bike and start wailing. You have to do a little dance where you switch the bike on, wait for the security system to disarm then switch the bike off and pull the Maxi-fuse before the security system can re-arm itself. At the point you can pull the battery if you like. Not sure how the rechargable battery will like running flat.

Bigmike, Gets to -40C+ at times here. Although I might have heated storage this year.Don't want the battery to freeze.
Splatter, I am quite farther north, half way up Alberta. Maybe I will put the quick connect on it and leave the tender on all winter. My bike is a 2004 FXD so it squeels through the security module itself. Sure I read in the manual that this unit has a built in rechargable battery being the siren is part of the module.

We're Northerners too, and not only put both our bikes into heated winter storage, we also hook up battery tenders. So much simpler that way.
