i've got an 09 fatbob with forward controls, I want to put mid mount pegs on for highway comfort. I've got a chance to pick up some mid mount brackets off of an 08 superglide, and i'm wondering if they'll fit on my fatbob.
Im skeptical because the midmounts on an fxdf have to clear exhaust pipes from both cylinders, but a superglide only has one pipe running under it.
The mounts will work fine but if you have the stock headpipes on your FB you will need to order the Heat shield from a FB that came with mid controls. It has a notch in it to allow for the mounts to clear the exhaust.
Had those on mine without changing heat shields. It just put a little crease in the shield that you couldn't see until I took the mids back off. I'm 6' 240 and riding with my feet on the mids was just too cramped to be comfortable for me.
Got them on my FB. The only complaint is forgetting when they are extended and bumping my feet on them when stopping or lifting up my feet after starting.
Feels good to switch my feet from the front pegs to mids but I still have to stop and stretch. Just getting too damn old!
I didn't have to do any mods and there is no cut out on my heat shield.
Ya I call it the superman...but only when noone is around to see LOL! I put a powder coated bracket on my fwd controls and that brought them back and up quite a bit. You can't tell it's there but it makes a world of difference for comfort.
