I have hated the looks of the factory trim on the battery cover ever since I got my bike.Just looks cheap to me.
I found a SE medallion on ebay, removed the trim piece, filled the holes with black allen head bolts and centered the medallion on the battery cover.Like it a lot better.

Very nice job! I like it. You don't mind if I copy that, do you?

Oh,no sir,not at all, long as it doesn't start up one of those homophobic threads again.
I like it, mo black mo better.I was just looking at that myself this morning how hard was that thing to get off and were those bolt holes threaded?I suppose I could just cover them all with a piece of grip tape I have laying around from my old skateboard building days.

Just remove the battery cover and take the trim piece off. It's held on by some plastic push clips,it's real easy to get off. The holes aren't threaded. The plugs from your fender holes are the perfect size to fill the holes. I only had two laying around so I used some small allen head bolts from Home Depot and spray painted some washers to cover the gap around the bolt. You can get the plugs from Ace hardware or the Harley shop, they're just never open on Sundays, which is the only time I have time to work on my bike.
