Can you add these to a stock setup?

That's what they are for. They richen the mixture in closed loop mode, so if you're running a hi-flow AC you still need the download, which richens the mixture in open loop.

The nightrider site has some pretty good writeups ( http://www.nightrider.com/parts/ied_faq.htm ). There are several different XiED type models, some adjustable some not. They change the voltage the ECU sees from the O2 sensors, so the ECU thinks the bike is running leaner than it really is and therefore the bike runs a bit richer, but only in closed loop which part throttle and cruising. It does nothing for WOT or idle (typically open loop). So the XiED in combo with a simple fueler can be a good setup.

There are always exceptions, but if your bike runs fine, then it should run cooler and better with the XiED. I used mine for a couple thousand miles but it did nothing for the minor but annoying surging and decel pop. I had to go to something more sophisticated to fix that. The XiEDs certainly cooled the bike (elliminated the hot seat) and knocked 5mpg off, however. Now they are sitting on the shelf.

Since you don't look like you work for Uncle, I guess in a nutshell I can tell you it defeats EPA regulations as far as tailpipe emissions go. Even with the fuel injected engine like mine, it feels like a well tuned carb without the fuss of chokes and all that we dealt with before.
I rode to San Diego, a 240 mile trip for me and the weather going was nice and cool as I went by the ocean, so it was not much of a test there, but returning I rode a bit longer way of the desert route. I was in 100+ temps and one good sized mountain. The bike ran fantastic and the few times I stopped and put my hands near the exhaust, I could tell by the seat of my pants that it was much cooler than before XiEDs.

There is a website called Night Rider, you can read up what he has there and if he has a set up for your application and the cost. I paid $110 for mine plus shipping, but he gives discounts to military etc. Do a search, I don't have the exact address.
Thanks. I'm going to look into it a little further. Seems like there's mixed reviews from what I've read on here. The good thing about them is they're not too big of an investment if they don't work out.
