I talked to a guy with an 07 street bob who instLled a new tank console from a softail. It looked just like the stock one but had the ignition swith on it. He said it was easy to do, he just had to buy a plug ? He. Also said that he has a fob that came stock with a bob but I don't have one. He said if someone gets close they can't start the bike ? Anyone know anything ??
No idea on the console but yea I have the fob on my 07 Street Bob. It is part of the security system. You have to get it close to the bike in order for it to start. I always carry the fob on my keychain but one time at Outer Banks Bike Week I left it in the wife's car and when she drove off I was unable to start the bike. There is a way to override it without the fob by entering a code with the turn signal buttons but I had no idea how to do it at the time.
No idea on a Softtail dash that will work ( off the top of my head the only softtail I can recall with a 4 inch speedo is a Rocker so not sure it was a softtail dash) but the dash off the 08 FXDSE2/2010 WG will work on the SB and has the ignition switch on it.
The Fob is part of the security system which is an option. The weird thing is even if you buy the security system you still have to pay seperate for the actual siren alarm which is another option. You would think it would all come together but you know how Harley is with nickel and diming you to death (or maybe it's $50 and $100ing you to death)
My bike had the security system on it but no siren alarm so if someone tries to start it without the fob present it won't start and also if someone picks it up off the kickstand or moves it the lights will flash but no siren will go off because I didn't pay extra for it.

Thank you, I have the same setup and after I put the bars on I had some concern if that would work but it does. Just luck I guess.
