Trying to find some info on the chain tensioner I found this article:

You really need to thank Mud for being the only one on the planet thats posted pics of the differences between the two. The tweaked original that Mud posted is in good shape when compared to some I've seen that really failed. The horror stories you hear about the original auto tensioners are true.

I think you said you did it already, but make sure you change the mainshaft primary bearing (in the inner primary). They had a service interval of 15,000 miles on the '06's. The race should be changed as well. I've seen several of those fail.

I'm not trying to hijack Joe's thread! However do you think the horror stories will be history now? I agree the A type tensioner looks a lot stronger, but what about the stories the chain being over tightened and thus having to reset the tensioner manually? Some H-D riders prefer the HB125 (see pic below). We'd better start a new thread on this subject?

Frank, and everyone, next time I get into the Primary, I will swap out to the Baker component.

Baker produces THE best drive components.

this component replaces the bearing, the seal, AND the race.

about 40 bux, if I remember correctly.

Double check with Baker that it does work for the 06 and up.

They told me it does, but I do not know that first hand.

here's a link, and a picture...............................

.
side note here for the 01-05 Dynas.....
...............there is a great deal in the Classifieds on a Baker Six Speed OverDrive.

..............here is a link.............................................. .............

That is the type of bearing I planned to search out and install if my IPB failed again. Though was originaly thinking a sealed bearing, this one spec'd by baker looks like a great upgrade.

Great tips! Mud i will order that new bearing when i get to the office tomorrow... as far as the tensioner... i have to check mine out... so far this little leak has turned into a big $ job... 135 on the pulley, 75 in gaskets and new bolts, 25 new SE clutch spring, and now 40 for the bearing... i really dont have any idea how much that new tensioner runs but that would suck to have to pop for that as well... we will have to see how mine is looking when i crack it open
