Default Exhaust Bracket(?) Question

So my new to me FXDC has V&H on it. While looking it over, notice what appears to be the stock exhaust bracket. I would like to remove it (seems to be held on by two button heads), but wanted to make sure it was not something I could do without screwing something else up. I don't believe so, but wanted to double check

Just take it off. Look under a Fat bob or new WideGlide, neither has this bracket but the holes are drilled/tapped and the case is machined for it to just bolt on.

Yeah, you'll be fine. It looks like one of the bolts is one of the tranny end plate bolts, but as long as you only take out one bolt at a time from just about any cover/mating surface you won't have any issues. I can't tell where the other bolt is, picture is kinda blurry.

Thanks for the replies. The bolts are actually underneath, not visible. Just wanted to double check about removing it before I did.

It's a PITA to remove. One screw is directly above the frame rail and requires a modified tool to remove. It does on my 06. I just left it on.

Don is correct. Make your own tool, it's a PITA.

At least on my low rider, you need a low profile tool with I think a T 27 bit to get at the screws, they sell this for about $25, too much for a tool I'd use once. Here's an example...

Huh, from the "feel" it seems like they would be easily accessed. Luckily "my dad's a tv repairman, he's got an awesome set of tools"

Check his toolbox for a dremel if you can't get access to the bolts .
