QuickSilver, I recommend going with a set of 12" shocks. I too had trouble with bottoming out with the 11's. I'm pretty sure the Street Bob shocks the guys are offering will work. I now have 12" Progessives on my bike.
If you have a 97 FXDWG and OEM's are 12-5/8", that's probably what you should go with. Don't know the weight situation, but if combined is over 250lbs and you ride 2-up 50% of the time, Progressive recommends Heavy Duty.
Are the shocks HD or STD? How much do you weigh? I believe the progressive STD are not good for much more than 200lbs and I would argue 180. If you have STD shocks on, then you could get the HD springs from Progressive and if you do go with the 12" still figure in your weight on whether you want STD or HD. I did not see anyone mention this.
