Guy's quick questions. The other day I was caught in an traffic jam. Had to idle for about 20 mins(temp around 25 degrees before my bike started acting up... I mean that it started to idle rough and the idle increased a bit at times. My legs were burning from the engine! I got pisssed so I turned out of the trafic jam and backtracted the long way home.
Now my bike sorta idles rough any reason why?
This summer we went to LA for vacation. I didn't take my bike but it was around 35 degrees around Vegas and there was a trafic jam on the highway heading North from L.A. The trafic jam went on for miles. There were no bikes that I noticed, but what do you do in a jam in those conditions? Turn bike off and push! lol
I can't figure out how 25 and 35 degrees are extreme temps. My bike would love to idle all day in those temps. Come down here to Texas or Arizona or New Mexico if ya want to see extreme temps. We had over 30 consecutive days of 100+ degrees in the day and 90's at night this summer and it is still in the 90's everyday right now.
He is from Canada and is talking Centigrade. 25 C is 77 F but that is still not particularly hot by any standards. I can't imagine why it would be acting up at that cool of a temp. We had several 40C days in south Texas this ( 60 days over 38C) year and the bike ran just fine, but you are right they really don't like sitting in traffic.

The rough idle in traffic is the rear cylinder shutting down when it overheats. The ECM is programed to do that.My 06 will do it once in a while but it clears right up when I get going again.
After the first ten or fifteen minutes I would have found a place to pull over and park it. Air cooled engines some air moving over the fins to dissipate the heat. If that's a construction zone or an area full of cagers who tend to wreck a lot I think a different route is in order.
