Default RPM

When my ultra gets hot the rpm at idle goes down to(apx 850)from a normal idle of (apx 950). is this due to some heat management programbuilt into the bike? and if so will a dfo override this and allow the idle to stay the same even when the bike is hot?

I bought a rev tech dfo and the instructions explain that the pot adjustmentsare like a clock (1,2,3, o'clock etc ) however if you look at the pots the numbers on them are not in the same place they would be on a clock, do you ignore the numbers on the potsand set the pots as if you were looking at a clock?

You don't mention what the temps are when this happens to the idle dropping down. Is it excessivly hot to ride, or pinging? There is a heat management in place for your bike but it would have to be excessivly hot for it to activate like idling in traffic for a period of time.. Have you checked for intake leaks?

As far as the DFO, each line on that clock regardless of the number position missing next to it represents one jet size larger. They usually come with suggested settings that are on the fat side for most applications.

Here's the heat manage strategy for your bike.

When it goes into heat management the ECM is taking steps to keep from meltingthe motordown. It starts with reduced idle then adds fuel to try to cool it down, then there is one more step but I cant remember it off the top of mt head, But the LAST thing you would want to do is override it. If its that hot and trying to cool itself down why would you want to stop that. If your in traffic pull over and let it cool down if it is just plain hot out consider taking off the lowers to get more air flow. That would be like tunrning the AC on max in your car when its overheating. Its not helping its making it worse.
